What is a detox?

Detoxification is the body’s way of eliminating waste and toxins. Our bodies detox naturally every day and usually do it well, but occasionally our toxic load becomes too great and our body systems need some help to detox efficiently.

 

Why do we need to detox?

Everyday we are exposed to toxins, they are in the air, soil, water, food, plastics and cosmetics.  While we can do out best to help reduce our exposure to these toxins is it not possible to complete avoid some level of toxins in our life. When our detoxification systems are over loaded our body can not function efficiently and we don’t look and feel our best.

What to expect from a detox.

When you have completed your detox you can expect improved energy, bright eyes, improved sleep quality, healthier digestion and a clear mind. Some people also experience weight loss. A detox is a great way to kick start a weight loss program. 

 

When I recommend a detox for my clients it is specifically designed for their individual needs and based on their health goals.  It may include a supplement to help your liver or bowel function, but mostly it will involve short term dietary changes to help your body reduce inflammation and improve how it removed toxins.  The great part about this process is learning how different foods impact you and how you feel.   Most clients will continue with some aspects of their program long term as it helps them feel energised.
